Theater and great music meet in the heart of Sardinia. On Friday, July 17th, at 9:00 PM, the Barumini Music & Heritage Festival hosts one of the most anticipated events of the season: "Verdi's Shakespeare," starring Gabriele Lavia, accompanied on the piano by maestro Otello Visconti.

One of the greatest interpreters of Italian theater of the last fifty years, Lavia will lead the audience on a fascinating journey through the literature of William Shakespeare and the immortal music of Giuseppe Verdi. "Verdi had a formidable instinct for Art with a capital A," observes Lavia himself, emphasizing the Italian composer's profound connection to Shakespeare's great themes. In the unique setting of Su Nuraxi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, words and music will merge in a performance capable of capturing the full evocative power of two giants of global culture.
