The appointment with "Nur's journey, from the Shardana to the Kingdom of Italy" is renewed again this year on Tuesday 14 and Thursday 16 May at the Giovanni Lilliu centre. The educational path which combines the traditional method of teaching Sardinian history with beautiful moments of sharing with the little ones to teach the history of our island by playing and having fun, continues to unite the Barumini Sistema Cultura Foundation with the local schools, in particular the comprehensive institute of Villamar and beyond. This year there will be over 400 children involved from the schools of Villamar, Lunamatrona, Segariu, Barumini, Gesturi, Villanovafranca, Siddi, Guspini and Pabillonis.
The journey with the Nuragic warrior Nur will take place in many stages for a historical and cultural journey in Sardinia from the Shardana to the Kingdom of Italy in a new way for elementary and middle school students to have a special lesson, immersed in study and lots of fun. The game, created by Professor Gianfranco Sperati, develops like the classic board game such as Monopoly or Risk, but in which the students of the individual classes compete with each other in questions, unexpected events and battles.
“This year too we wanted to strengthen our support for schools throughout our territory because we believe that, especially in terms of the culture and history of Sardinia, Barumini itself, with the UNESCO site of Su Nuraxi just a stone's throw away, can represent the ideal place to host these routes", comments Emanuele Lilliu, president of the Barumini Sistema Cultura Foundation.
There will be 12 classes competing in "history strokes" on Tuesday and 16 on Thursday, and they will go through the various qualifying phases up to the final which will see the best teams in play, including dice rolls, mock battles, questions and answers with the unexpected making everything uncertain until the last throw of the dice and final answer. A moment of collective involvement where all the students are called to be protagonists in the history of Sardinia from the most remote past to the Judicial age up to the reign of 'Italy. All without forgetting the most ancient history of our ancestors, traveling with NUR.
“We are happy to be able to bring to Barumini, again this year, a project in which we believe a lot and which manages to effectively involve many young people every year - adds Gianfranco Sperati - these collaborations allow us to reach places where school alone cannot reach . Our hope is that the project can soon be expanded to involve many other institutes." Finally, for Roberto Scema, head teacher of the Villamar institute, "this project is very important to consolidate the relationship with the community of Barumini, thanks to the relationship with the Foundation - he underlines - our great dream is to transform this into an event regional to cross the thresholds of our institute and grow further. From this point of view, the collaboration with the Barumini Foundation is fundamental."
