From August 2 to September 30, 2025 , the evocative spaces of the Casa Zapata Museum Center in Barumini will host a new and fascinating collective exhibition organized by the Barumini Sistema Cultura Foundation and the Municipality of Barumini.
A project that intertwines the evocative power of the Nuragic past with the forms and languages of contemporary art, giving life to a true visual dialogue between memory and present, between stone and sign.
The inauguration of the exhibition entitled: "Ancient Echoes, Contemporary Signs - Art and Archaeology in Dialogue" is scheduled for Saturday 2 August at 7 pm and represents the ideal opportunity to discover the works of seven highly talented Sardinian artists , recognised and appreciated on the regional scene: Silvano Caria, Maria Grazia Medda, Maria Grazia Tuveri, Marina Desogus, Genoveffa Serra, Antonello Serra and Alessandro Muscas.
Their creations range from sculpture and painting to the evocative textile patterns of carpets and artistic banners, all works drawing inspiration from the deepest roots of Sardinian culture. Each artist, with their own personal style, offers an original reinterpretation of the archaic art and symbolism that characterize the island's Nuragic heritage, highlighting its timeless beauty.
The exhibition's critical presentation is curated by Paolo Sirena, who will guide the public through an exhibition that unites contemporary art with the historical identity of Barumini and Sardinia.
Barumini confirms its reputation not only for its splendid archaeology but also as a home and springboard for Sardinian artists. With this exhibition, the Fondazione Barumini Sistema Cultura confirms and strengthens its mission: to promote Sardinia's tangible and intangible heritage :
"Barumini is more than just Su Nuraxi, nor is it just archaeology or major events. It's also a space open to contemporary art, a vibrant place where Sardinian artists can find a home, express themselves, grow, and consolidate their careers, " emphasizes the Foundation's president, Emanuele Lilliu . "Our community continues to be this too: a place to engage with the local community and offer concrete opportunities to Sardinian culture in all its forms."
The exhibition is thus part of a broader cultural project , which sees Barumini as a point of reference for the island's artistic production and promotion , an ideal bridge between ancient roots and current creativity, between past and future.
The exhibition will be open to visitors until September 30, 2025 and is fully included in the tour of Su Nuraxi di Barumini, the Casa Zapata Museum Center and the Giovanni Lilliu Center , enriching the cultural experience offered to visitors.
An unmissable opportunity to admire the talent of Sardinian artists in a unique setting, where the allure of archaeology dialogues with the expressive power of contemporary art.
