The Babajaga Art Center, a historic dance institution in Porto Torres that has enjoyed uninterrupted artistic continuity since 1979, celebrated the prestigious achievement of one of its most brilliant students: Mirea Delogu, currently starring as Odette/Odile in "Swan Lake," directed by renowned choreographer Angelin Preljocaj, currently performing at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari. Born in 1997 and raised in the halls of what was then the ABCDanza School, Mirea took her first steps in the world of classical dance under the guidance of Giuseppina Perantoni, now director of the Babajaga Center.
What began as a dream at the age of six in Porto Torres has transformed into a dazzling international career that now brings her back home, in the most iconic role in the classical repertoire. In 2014, she moved to France, to the Ecole Supérieure de Danse de Cannes Rosella Hightower, before graduating with the Cannes Jeune Ballet. After significant experiences in Germany (Essen, Dortmund) and at the Ballet du Rhin, Mirea joined Ballet Preljocaj Junior in 2016, becoming a permanent member of the prestigious Ballet Preljocaj company the following year.
After 11 years away from the island to build a distinguished career abroad, Mirea shared her emotional return on social media: "Sometimes the stars align and life gives you wonderful surprises. It makes you realize it wasn't impossible, but you just had to wait for the perfect moment. One of my regrets was not being able to share my art with my family and friends and do so in my homeland." Giuseppina Perantoni, director of the Babajaga Center, states: "Seeing Mirea today, an established professional and interpreter of such a complex and profound role, is a testament to how our work, begun in 1979, continues to bear extraordinary fruit. Porto Torres has a reputation for excellence that shines throughout the world, and we are honored to have given it the foundation to take flight."
