New York returns to the NBA Finals after a 27-year absence. The Knicks completed their Eastern Conference triumph by overwhelming Cleveland in Game 4 130-93, closing the series 4-0. It was a historic night for the Big Apple franchise, which now awaits the winner of the Western Conference final between the San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder, currently tied at 2-2.
Karl-Anthony Towns led New York, scoring a double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds. Anunoby (17 points) and Shamet (16) also had solid contributions, while Bridges and Brunson both finished with 15 points.
This season that's making New York dream, there's also a Sardinian protagonist : Riccardo Fois , assistant coach of the Knicks. This is the second NBA Finals of the Olbia native's career, after reaching the 2021 NBA Finals with the Phoenix Suns.
Born in 1987, raised in Santa Croce Olbia , Fois won the 2002 Scudetto Allievi at a very young age together with Gigi Datome before embarking on a career as a coach.
In the United States he built his career, moving from college to the top of the NBA : at Gonzaga he worked as director of analytics, contributing to the historic NCAA Final Four, while with the Italian national team he was part of the technical staff both with Gianmarco Pozzecco and, subsequently, with Luca Banchi.
