A leading exponent of the international scene , directly from the Babel-like capital of jazz known as New York : in the last weekend of November the Jazz Club Newtork brings the Jed Levy & Phil Robson International Quartet to the island , with two dates in Cagliari , scheduled at the Jazzino on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th from 9.30pm, and one in Sassari, on Sunday 30th at the Vecchio Mulino at 7.30pm.

Jed Levy has been active in New York jazz for over forty years , performing and recording both as a bandleader and in various collaborations, starting with his great mentor Jaki Byard and continuing on to the celebrated Don Patterson, Ron McClure, Jack McDuff , and drummer Mike Clark , a longtime member of Herbie Hancock 's Headhunters . These are just some of the great names Levy has had the privilege of playing with, taking his music to three different continents for the genre's most important festivals and conquering the most prestigious clubs in his native city, including Birdland, Blue Note, and Jazz at Lincoln Center: the organizers of the latter chose Levy's quartet for a tour of South America, with the blessing of the U.S. State Department. Still exploring the various nuances of jazz that the Big Apple scene has to offer—and incorporating them into his bandleading—Levy released the album "Faces and Places" a few months ago.

But another key part of Levy's current journey is his partnership with British guitarist Phil Robson, which began in those very New York clubs and continued successfully on numerous European tours, now finally arriving in Sardinia. A quartet led by Levy's saxophone and the Englishman's guitar, joined by Mark Hodgson on double bass and Roberto Gatto on drums, creates a solid and versatile rhythm that enhances the bandleader's explosive sax.

The eighth season of the Jazz Club Network continues until December 13, organized by Cedac and the Il Jazzino association and supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Region, the Municipality of Cagliari, and the Fondazione Sardegna.
