A cultural and artistic bridge between Sardinia and Sweden, a bond between two distant schools united by art, experimentation, and a creative spirit. This is the spirit that animates the exhibition “From Italy to Sweden – Connected by Art”, which featured the Foiso Fois art school in Cagliari and the Gymnasieskolan Spyken in Lund, Sweden. Inaugurated on Sunday 11 May in the Stadshallen civic museum centre, in the historic heart of the university city of Lund, the exhibition showcases the works of 17 students from the Sardinian high school.
A journey through different themes and techniques that pushed students to explore more deeply the universes of painting, drawing and digital art. The exhibition is the last stage of an international exchange project that has involved the two schools since 2024. The project is conceived and curated by teacher Lara Sanna, a Cagliari native naturalized Swedish , teacher and contact person for the initiative at the Spyken high school. "It had been a dream in the drawer for years," says Lara Sanna. "I wanted to bring Cagliari and my old high school to the Swedish city where I have lived and worked for over twenty years. This project represented a bridge between past and present, but above all a concrete opportunity for our and your students to open up to the world through art."
The initiative began with the selection of original works created by students from both schools, outside of ordinary curricular activity. In Lund, a jury of three teachers chose 27 works from those proposed by Swedish students; in parallel, in Cagliari the artistic works presented by students from Foiso Fois were selected. The opening of the exhibition in Lund follows the February 2025 exhibition held in the spaces of the MEM - Mediateca del Mediterraneo in Cagliari , which recorded over 1000 visitors.
All the works were born as personal projects and reflect the creativity and individual vision of the young artists involved and the project confirms itself as a virtuous model of cultural and pedagogical cooperation in the European context.
