The long weekend of the Fencing World Cup begins, with 72 Italian athletes competing in all weapons.

The épée starts tomorrow in Fujairah, in the Emirates, the Tunis GP for sabre and the foil events begin on Friday between Hong Kong for the women's competitions and Paris for the men.

The first assaults of the new year are scheduled in Fujairah , with the men's and women's épée events: 12 Italian women have been called up by coach Dario Chiadò, and the same number of men have been chosen by coach Diego Confalonieri.

After last month's event in Orleans, the saber team moves to Tunis for the second Grand Prix of the season , an elite circuit featuring only individual events. Among the Italians, Luca Curatoli is taking a precautionary break: the world number 4 is undergoing individual training due to a physical problem.

The women's foil fencers are traveling to Asia: in Hong Kong (host of the 2026 World Championships), Martina Favaretto (world number 2) and Arianna Errigo will be competing, among others.

The historic men's foil event will take place in Paris at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin, with Italy featuring defending champion Alessio Foconi, winner of last year's individual event in Paris, which Tommaso Marini triumphed in 2024.

The Italian team led by coach Simone Vanni won both team competitions at the start of the season (in Palma de Mallorca and Fukuoka).
