From a violent earthquake between Rome and Tuscany to the prophecy of a recent pope: this year too , CICAP, the Italian Committee for the Control of Claims on Pseudoscience , has put the astrological predictions made at the beginning of 2025 to the test to see what has come true and what has not.
"At the end of the year, it's easy to forget what was planned many months earlier," says Stefano Bagnasco, of the CICAP Board of Directors.
"Given the data, the vast majority are generic, predictable, or completely wrong, and the few remaining cases can easily be traced back to luck or cunning. Our investigation is not a scientific study," Bagnasco emphasizes, "but a reminder that extraordinary claims should always be put to the test."
THE POPE – Regarding the Pope, among other things, the arrival of the so-called “last pope” named Petrus Secundus or Petrus Romanus has been foretold, after which the apocalypse would occur, but also a shocking change in the world religious structure and the second coming of Jesus Christ with the consequent beginning of the end times.
THE BRITISH ROYALS – Regarding the British royal family, however, there have been prophecies about a resurgence of Kate Middleton's image, the separation between Harry and Meghan Markle, and the coronation of Prince William.
THE USA – In the United States, psychics and astrologers have predicted, for example, the divorce between Michelle Obama and Barack Obama, that between Donald Trump and Elon Musk, and a second assassination attempt on the American president.
EARTHQUAKE – The January readings (sic!) taken in several locations in central and northern Italy have incorrectly predicted the wettest and sunniest months of 2025, and the predicted violent earthquake between Rome and Tuscany has not even occurred.
TSUNAMI – Finally, the prediction of a devastating tsunami that was supposed to hit Japan on July 5th also failed to materialize. However, an earthquake did indeed occur that day, but with a much lower magnitude of 5.4, it caused no damage.
