From Cassa Depositi e Prestiti 800 million euros to Unicredit to create a fund to support small and medium-sized enterprises and Mid Caps (i.e. medium-capitalization companies), in particular those with registered offices in Sardinia and seven other regions of Southern Italy (Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia and Sicily).

The 800 million are part of a private senior unsecured bond issue by UniCredit entirely underwritten by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti aimed at "strengthening the competitiveness in Italy and abroad" of the beneficiaries.

In detail, the resources will be entirely used by the bank through new loans of up to 20 million euros and with a duration of no less than 24 months to support the development and investments of Italian SMEs and Mid-Caps "which represent the backbone of the country's economic fabric".

The operation is part of a broader collaboration between the two institutions and follows the previous €750 million bond issue completed in 2022 and aimed at companies operating in sectors crucial to the Italian economy such as consumer goods, mechanics and metals, catering and tourism services.

Over the past five years, the consolidated cooperation between CDP and UniCredit has guaranteed access to credit to over 27,000 thousand Italian companies with more than 2.5 billion euros of resources mobilized thanks to the subscription of private placement bonds.
