Francesco Renga was forced to disembark from a Ryanair flight departing from Brindisi and bound for Orio al Serio after several tense moments on board.
According to some passengers, the singer-songwriter was reportedly challenged at the gate for having a bag deemed too large to be carried in the cabin. After a discussion with airport staff, the situation seemed to be resolved with the payment of the applicable supplement. Before boarding, Renga also reportedly stopped to take photos with fans who recognized him.
Tensions, however, reportedly escalated once on board. According to witnesses, the singer expressed irritation over the flight delay, engaging in harsh confrontations with some crew members and other passengers. A steward's intervention was not enough, and the captain, with the plane already in motion, decided to intervene by bringing the aircraft back to the gate. At that point, Renga and his companion were asked to disembark because, in the crew's assessment, the conditions for continuing the journey were not met.
The scene was filmed on smartphones by several passengers, and the videos quickly began circulating on social media. The plane, already about half an hour late, took off around 12:30 AM.
At the moment, neither Renga nor Ryanair have released an official version of what happened.
