Max Verstappen on Red Bull won the Abu Dhabi GP , on the Yas Marina circuit, which closed the Formula 1 world championship season.
The Dutchman, who for weeks has already been reconfirmed as world champion for drivers, preceded the Ferrari of the Monegasque Charles Leclerc to the finish line . Lewis Hamilton retired in closing laps: Mercedes dry in 2022.
This is the 15th victory of the season for the Dutchman, which arrived with a time of 1'29"797.
Small-great masterpiece by Charles Leclerc who gets second place ahead of Perez's other Red Bull and takes second place in the Drivers' World Championship. Ferrari is also second in the constructors' championship standings. All in all, a positive day for the team was completed by the fourth place of the Spanish Carlos Sainz jr., who finished behind Perez.
On the other hand, their season ends badly for Mercedes and in particular for the highly decorated British Lewis Hamilton, forced to retire at the end of a very monotonous race : for the "silver arrow" the Formula 1 season ends with zero victories.
An emotional Sebastian Vettel leaves the Formula, obtaining a tenth place. The German took his leave with 53 victories, 122 podiums, 57 pole positions, 38 fastest laps and 4 world titles in the 300 Grands Prix held in Formula 1.
