The total number of jobs at the former Bakaert plant in Assemini acquired by Nuova Icom has risen to 205. The Region has established "a dedicated fund to ensure financial coverage for staff training and retraining, facilitating a structured transition for workers to the new production structure." This announcement was made by the Councilor for Labor and Desiré Manca, regarding the reorganization of the former Bekaert plant in Assemini in preparation for the takeover of the new economic operator, Nuova Icom. Icom has expressed its intention to reabsorb the entire former Bekaert workforce and hire an additional 55 people, bringing the total number of jobs involved in the revitalization plan for the Macchiareddu site to approximately 205. The process is now entering a decisive phase.

Next Wednesday, September 2nd, at the MIMIT (Ministry of Mitigation and Reconstruction), the Region will present the methods it intends to implement to support the operation and the industrial plan. Time is running out: the acquisition of the plant by Nuova Icom will be formalized on October 15th . "Since the beginning of the dispute, the Region has clearly outlined a precise strategic line, aimed at supporting the reorganization process of the former Bekaert plant and, in a second phase, facilitating the takeover of the economic operator Nuova Icom, with the primary objective of protecting employment levels," Manca stated. "The synergistic action and constant institutional dialogue conducted with Nuova Icom have today allowed us to achieve a result of primary importance and to look with confidence at a dispute that has long involved so many workers and their families and which is moving towards a positive resolution."
