Giovanni Malagò is the new president of the Italian Football Federation. He was elected with 68.58 percent of the vote by the FIGC assembly, called upon to provide new leadership to Italian football following the resignation of Gabriele Gravina following the national team's failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
Malagò received 343,084 votes, equal to 68.58 percent of the assembly's votes, compared to 145,036 (29.17 percent) for the other presidential candidate, Giancarlo Abete. There were 11.72 blank ballots, equal to 2.25 percent.
"This sense of responsibility is truly profound and moving. Alone I can do nothing, but with you I can do everything," Malagò said immediately after his election, addressing the assembly.
