A friendly match on the Cagliari Sports Centre pitch in Assemini between the teams from the Bonorva and Monastir Extraordinary Reception Centres.
The result wasn't announced, and in any case, it wasn't important: it was an afternoon of fun, inclusion, and encounters among people from diverse backgrounds and experiences. The coaches for the occasion were Robert Acquafresca and Francesco Pisano , coaches from Cagliari's youth team.
The "Beyond Borders" initiative was promoted by the Region, Department of Labor, the Sardinia Lnd-FIGC Regional Committee, and Cagliari Calcio, with the collaboration of the Lega Serie A.
Also on the sidelines were Max Canzi and Oscar Erriu, director and technical coordinator, respectively, of the Rossoblu youth sector. Lega Serie A also contributed to the initiative by providing the match kits worn by the two teams.
"Cagliari Calcio," said Omar Daffe , Lega Serie A, "has always been at the forefront of best practices in terms of inclusion and social responsibility initiatives that see sport as a vehicle for positive values, even off the pitch. Seeing young people on the green pitch, in a context that hosts professionals every day, means we're truly working to integrate and offer new life opportunities to so many people who have already experienced difficult moments in their lives and need to overcome them."
