Due to the crisis in the Middle East, Fluorsid is forced to stop three production lines and this will lead to an unspecified number of redundancies .

CGIL, CISL, and UIL reported this: the unions are viewing the situation with great concern, also because – explain Giampiero Manca of FILCTEM CGIL, Marco Nappi and Mattia Carta of FEMCA CISL, and Pierluigi Loi and Davide Collu of UILTEC UIL – the company intends "to conduct direct negotiations with workers regarding voluntary redundancies as early as May."

Last Thursday, during a meeting between Tommaso Edoardo Giulini, Fluorsid's majority shareholder, CEO Andrea Alessandro Muntoni, and local union representatives, "the company's extremely difficult situation was denounced, which has recently worsened due to the Middle East crisis with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the resulting bombing of several refineries to which it supplied raw materials ." The president also emphasized that " also due to strong competition from Chinese markets, the conditions are no longer right to maintain the same aluminum fluoride production levels as in the past ."

For this reason, the unions report, Giulini has announced "the shutdown of production lines 1, 2 and 3 starting from mid-June" and that in the future "production will go from 100 thousand to 40 thousand tons per year" .

The fear, the unions conclude, is that the Fluorsid case "risks becoming another crisis in the already troubled industrial area of Macchiareddu ."
