Small capacity flights, Ita responds to the Region: "A thousand more seats this summer, monitoring is continuous"
The company replies to Moro: «We promptly evaluate increases in the offer». The councilor threatened penalties: "Passengers continue to complain"

On the connections in territorial continuity Ita Airways responds to the accusations of the councilor for Transport Antonio Moro, and of the trade union organizations, according to which there are not enough places especially considering the summer period.
On continuous flights, the company specifies that «currently, taking into account the sizing of the offer contained in the Ministerial Decree, it operates 7 frequencies daily on the Cagliari – Rome Fiumicino route, as envisaged by the Decree; 6 frequencies on the Cagliari – Milano Linate line, 2 more than the Decree; 3 frequencies on the Alghero – Milano Linate line, 1 more than the Decree».
The company also points out that « it implements continuous monitoring, together with the competent structures of the Sardinia Region, on the available capacity . In the event that on a single route the demand for seats exceeds 91% of the total daily offer, ITA Airways, in compliance with the Decree, promptly evaluates increases in the offer through the use of more capacious aircraft or the introduction of additional flights, taking into account due consideration to the availability of the fleet .'
As for the summer period « ITA Airways has made available about a thousand additional seats with respect to the minimum capacity indicated in the announcement thanks to the use of aircraft with higher unitary capacity. The Company, engaged in these days to deal with the impacts of the strike of airport operators on 15 July, as well as the emergency caused by the fire at Catania airport, confirms its attention towards Sardinia and the mobility of its citizens ».
THE REMINDER – "Ita must guarantee more seats on planes to Sardinia to resolve the critical issues that are characterizing the summer period", was the reminder from the regional Transport Department to the national airline, accompanied by a request to insert additional flights or to use planes with greater capacity "in the hypothesis in which the reservation systems show a demand for seats for each route exceeding 91% of the total daily offer", as established by the decree which imposes service charges on routes in territorial continuity.
" We are carefully monitoring the flight situation also in consideration of the constant complaints from passengers ", said the councilor Antonio Moro: "The major criticalities have been recorded on the Cagliari-Fiumicino route and vice versa. We reiterated to Ita that, if the maximum number of seats requested is exceeded, the company is obliged to insert additional flights or use more capacious aircraft. I remind you that in the event of failure to activate the additional flights, penalties will be applied».
