The tender for the new air territorial continuity to and from Sardinia takes off.

The information note was published today in the Official Journal of the European Union which gives way, with the consequent and timely publication of the calls by the regional transport department, to the procedures for the award of routes between the airports of Cagliari, Alghero and Olbia and Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate for the next two years. Companies will have two months to submit bids.

"The Region has respected the times - comments the governor Christian Solinas - to guarantee the Sardinians, without any interruption, the right to full mobility with all the tools currently available. We have identified a path and we are pursuing it in compliance with the deadlines for create a stable system that gives certainty in the connections between the island and the rest of Italy and Europe. We have already intervened to secure the summer season - underlines the President - allowing companies to also present acceptance proposals for the period that goes from May 15th to September 30th, and today this new fundamental passage allows us to look to the next few years with optimism and serenity, laying the foundations for a modern transport system, close to citizens and businesses ".

"We are very satisfied - says the regional councilor for transport, Giorgio Todde - after years we are finally able to have the new public service obligations after having been forced to extend. We have always had a clear idea of the new continuity and, after continuous consultations, in the end we arrived at a scheme shared with the Ministry and the European Union, which was defined also taking into account their indications. The result is now there for all to see: from 1 October, in full compliance with the deadlines, a new season will start for our air transport ".

RATES - The maximum fare, net of airport taxes, for resident passengers applicable to connections with Rome Fiumicino is € 39, while for Milan Linate it is € 47. Disabled people, university students up to the age of 27, young people aged 2 to 21 and seniors over 70 years of age are treated as residents in Sardinia. Children under the age of 2 travel for free if they do not occupy a seat. They are also reduced by 30% for children from 2 to 12 years old.

The single rate is partially introduced: non-residents traveling on the routes charged for work reasons are passengers treated as residents, for the Iata Winter season only, while the rate is free for non-residents traveling for various reasons. In the Iata Summer season the fare is free for all passengers not resident in Sardinia.

The concentration of flights mainly in the morning and evening slots allow resident and non-resident passengers a round trip within the day, avoiding additional costs linked to the otherwise obligatory stay beyond the day.
