"Despite recent warnings regarding the availability of kerosene in some facilities, we are far from an emergency . There is no immediate concern, and no flights have been canceled ," said Carlo Borgomeo, president of Assaeroporti , the association representing most Italian airports. "That said, attention is at its highest," he explained to Il Corriere della Sera.
"At this stage, all forecasting exercises are complex. No one can predict the current state of affairs or how they will evolve ," he adds. Regarding widespread concerns, he says: "We're not joining the chorus of alarmists: we're constantly monitoring. Even though airports don't manage the jet fuel market, we're available to discuss possible solutions on this front with the government. In any case, we urge everyone to be wary of speculation."
And again: " I urge everyone to be careful what they say and what they do, especially in this phase where no one knows anything. Also because it scares passengers. For example, I find it strange that a carrier has made contradictory statements: on the one hand, urging people to book summer flights immediately because prices will rise afterwards, and on the other, threatening flight cuts if the crisis in the Persian Gulf continues in the coming weeks." And finally, regarding the margins of calm for flights : "We'll hear from the main airport management companies and the aviation authorities until the end of May ."
