A trip to the Sardinian hinterland made three summers by two architects and a photographer in search of the keepers of the stories and traditions of fountains, wash houses and wells, linked to the architecture of water. The feature film "Funtaneris" by Massimo Gasole from Cagliari won the 2021 edition of the Fiorenzo Serra Film Festival, which focused on water and its social and symbolic role in human culture.

The second prize among the films went to the Sardinian Pietro Mereu's "Clan dei ricciai".

Instead for the successful short films of the Iranian short film "Gando" by Teymour Ghaderi. In second place is “La ramada”, by the Peruvian Fernando Torres Salvador. Special mention for “Chipaya, la gente de agua”, set in Bolivia, by Sardinian director Miko Meloni.

In the "Antonio Simon Mossa" section, a free subject, among the feature films "Amongst the plants" , set in Peru by Dutch filmmaker Mark Lindenberg. Among the short films the first place goes to the film "Vive Saint Sarah!", Set in France by the Italian Daniele Lucaferri. Special mentions for "Los hijos de los muertos shot in Egypt by the Spanish director Luay Albasha and" Transumanze "by the Sardinian director Andrea Mura.

This year's edition collected over 500 films from all five continents, only 23 made it to the finals in the various categories. The finalists were screened at the Cinema Moderno Citiplex from Monday 15 to Friday 19 November, every afternoon, with free admission. A long journey through the world, organized by the Laboratory of Visual Anthropology of the Sardinian Humanitarian Society-Cineteca Sarda of Cagliari, in collaboration with the Department of History, Humanities and Education of the University of Sassari, the Chamber of Commerce of Northern Sardinia (which hosted the award ceremony), Coldiretti and the support of the Sardinia Region.
