There are several entities in Sardinia that, in the report provided by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility to the Transport Commission of Montecitorio, have not provided reports on the correct use of the proceeds from road fines. A total figure that is around 3 billion euros.

In Italy there are 15 provincial administrations, 3 metropolitan cities and 317 unions of municipalities. To date, 1,556 municipalities (19.7% of the total) have not communicated the report for the high penalties for violations of the Highway Code, despite the law requiring each administration to deliver to the government by May 31 of each year an electronic report and to publish the data contained in the report on the local administration website within one month from the delivery date.

The ministry is now studying solutions: if the body does not transmit the documents or uses the proceeds in a way that differs from the provisions of the highway code, "the percentage of the proceeds due is reduced by 90 percent for each year for which it is found one of the aforementioned defaults ".

Involved in Sardinia are the provincial administrations of Nuoro, Oristano, South Sardinia, and the Municipality of Olbia.
