A quick session in the Regional Council, to give the Budget assessor and vice president of the council Giuseppe Meloni, the opportunity to intervene at the conclusion of the general discussion on the Finance law under consideration by the Chamber. And to vote on the passage to the articles of the text of the law, 15 in total plus tables and attachments, which was approved with 29 votes in favor of the majority and 16 against of the minority.
"It was a very interesting debate," Meloni began her speech, "I reiterate what I have already had occasion to say on other occasions: the maneuverable mass of this budget is reduced. It already happened in the last legislature. We have a frozen budget, more than half of the resources go to healthcare. We could have an extra billion that we cannot spend due to the provisions that, this year, amount to about 340 million plus another 28 million for the European stability pact," she summed up the situation.
The assessor recalled the failure to pay the Region the share of the tax revenue due by the State: «The revenue dispute is a 1.7 billion euro item. This is what Sardinia is asking the State. I fully understand the minority's observations when they say that this maneuver could have been more courageous, but we must take into account the situation we are experiencing», he clarified. And he outlined the path for the next maneuvers: «It will be a budget by states of progress: later on it will be necessary to proceed with an adjustment, then there will be more resources available», even if he admits the limit, «it would be better to move forward with a multi-year program».
Then the umpteenth opening to the center-right minority, which renews the agreement on the table: "I hope that this climate will be maintained in the Chamber. I am sure that we will meet halfway. We will have to make choices. We will not be able to finance everything but I am sure that we will be able to approve a measure that is up to the task".
The next session is scheduled for Tuesday, April 15 at 10:00.
