Finance, final confrontation in majority: before the Chamber, group leaders-assessors summit

Negotiations are underway in the Regional Council Building, within the majority but also between the two sides, to define the agreement that will allow a rapid green light to the ten billion euro Finance Bill, possibly before Easter. This afternoon at 4 pm the Chamber will meet to vote on the passage to the articles, and the Councilor for the Budget Giuseppe Meloni will probably also take the floor. Today is also the deadline for submitting amendments: the number, pending an agreement, will be high.

Before the Chamber, at 2 pm, a summit of the majority of group leaders is scheduled with the councilors who had been asked for cuts to recover resources to dedicate to emergencies. A final confrontation to certify the unitary line of Campo largo.

At present, the centre-left and centre-right have agreed on the increase of the single fund for local authorities, which should amount to one hundred million (60 for 2025, 20 for 2026 and 20 for 2027), but also on the funds for the Provinces (30 million) and to finance the law on crafts (30 million). The rest of the game will be played on the amendments regarding health and social assistance, agriculture and transport, issues on which the minority expects satisfactory answers.

Campo largo, however, remains of the idea of maintaining the allocation of 30 million to strengthen the role of the Region in the airport merger process. The discussions will continue throughout the weekend, with the amendments scheduled for examination in the Budget Committee on Monday. The Chamber will return on Tuesday to discuss the articles.

On the confrontation with the opposition, the leader of the Democratic Party Roberto Deriu declared that «in the general discussion on the budget there were very important openings by the main representatives of the minority, we took it as a sign of the fact that they are finally willing to have a serious dialogue on the issues, and on this basis we are certainly available». Francesco Agus (Progressisti) is convinced that «on the big issues and on the items dear to everyone an agreement will be found and the process in the Chamber will be smoother». As for the majority meeting at 2 pm, «the objective of everyone is to speed up spending, the reasoning of the majority concerns the concentration of resources where these can be spent more quickly»
