The return of one of the most popular horror sagas of all time could not go unnoticed: with “Final Destination - Bloodlines”, now available in theaters, lovers of strong emotions, attracted by the macabre game of those trying to escape the cold embrace of death, will find something to their liking.

The sixth installment of the famous franchise launched in the early 2000s with the successful debut directed by James Wong based on a story by Jeffrey Reddick, “Bloodlines” arrives fifteen years after “Final Destination 5”, also remembered for the excellent results at the box office that make it the second best success of the saga. The series, as a whole, has grossed over 650 million dollars, with the best debut at the box office still held by the fourth installment “The Final Destination”, which grossed 27.4 million dollars in its opening weekend in the United States alone.

For this long-awaited return, it was decided to maintain direct continuity with the previous chapters, avoiding reboot operations as the current trend suggests. In this new adventure, the franchise relies on the direction of Zach Lipovsky and the screenplay by Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor, based on a track conceived with Jon Watts. Confirming the intention to remain faithful to the original spirit was producer Craig Perry, who in March 2022 declared: "The word reboot makes it sound like it could change everything, but we can assure you that it will be a Final Destination movie".

And if the intent is to remain anchored to tradition, this time too Death returns as the undisputed protagonist, the inexorable nemesis of a group of unfortunate people who will try in vain to escape it. At the center of the story is Stefanie, a college student tormented by premonitory dreams and the terror that her family is in grave danger. To free herself from a horrible curse, she will search for the only person capable of helping her, but will it be enough to save herself and her loved ones? Among the main actors we will find Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Anna Lore, Rya Kihlstedt, Brec Bassinger and the late Tony Todd, who passed away in 2024, who returns for the last time in the role of the iconic William Bludworth.

“Bloodlines” has already struck a chord with fans since its first promotional material: the trailer released last March totaled 178.7 million global views in the first 24 hours, becoming the second most viewed horror movie trailer ever. The inclusion of spectacular choreography sequences, including an extreme stunt never seen before on the big screen, also attracted great interest.

In this regard, director Zach Lipovsky told Entertainment Weekly: “We set fire to a lot of different people, including the world record for the oldest person set on fire with Yvette Ferguson, who burned her entire body in the silver dress. She was the oldest person ever to be set on fire on camera.” A scene so delicate that it took up, according to statements, half of the film’s total budget: “The set was incredibly elaborate. It was actually probably seven different sets with all the different pieces. But the main set was incredibly big and we always laughed because it cost more than the first movie we made.”

No less enthusiasm has been aroused by specialized critics: on the aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, “Final Destination - Bloodlines” boasts a prestigious 91% of positive reviews. A result that makes it the best-reviewed chapter of the entire saga, far surpassing the previous record held by “Final Destination 5”, which stopped at 63%. In short, there are excellent reasons not to miss this appointment at the cinema: both neophytes and long-time fans will find the entertainment they are looking for.
