Preparations have begun in Orgosolo for the second edition of Off, the film festival of "denunciation, struggle, and resistance," now in its second year. And ahead of the event from September 10th to 13th, there will be a preview of the new edition on Friday.

At 7:00 PM, the Artists' Bar on Via Nuoro will screen the documentary "Guai ai vinti" by Paolo Carboni. The 68-minute film, produced in 2018, recounts the human and social tragedy of several former workers at the Ottana industrial complex , suffering from diseases related to exposure to asbestos and other harmful substances. Through the testimonies of workers, their families, and those who continue to fight for their rights, the film reconstructs the failure of an industrial dream transformed into a dramatic tale of injustice, memory, and denunciation.

The goal of the Orgosolo Film Festival, promoted by the RTS Foundation and supported by the Sardinia Foundation, the Region, and the Municipality of Orgosolo, with the patronage of the ISRE, is to promote cinema as a tool for critical reflection and civic engagement . In this sense, Orgosolo, with its history of resistance and popular participation (the Pratobello struggle of 1969 above all), represents the ideal setting for an event that aims to be both a moment of international exchange and an opportunity for cultural growth.

"The program," says Paolo Carboni , co-artistic director, "is designed to meet the people of Orgosolo as much as possible and involve them directly in the life of the festival. This year, there are several new features. One of them is the film workshops in schools. Another new feature is the inclusion of a popular jury made up of film enthusiasts who live in Orgosolo."

The film workshops (held between May and July) were led by Orgosolo director Antonio Congiu. They will conclude with the production of a short film by the students, which will be screened during the festival week.
