The former Palermo footballer, who had been ill for some time, was rushed to the Civico hospital in the Sicilian capital and is now hospitalized in the Pneumology department.

The family released a statement, which reads: "Given the countless calls from many newspapers and given the bad news circulating, we inform you that our beloved Totò is in stable conditions and is being monitored by a team of doctors continuously night and day. Forza Totò".
