Is Regional President Alessandra Todde considering resigning to clear up the confusion surrounding her tenure and focus on early elections? These are the speculations of analysts fueling the debate, first in the corridors and then in the Regional Council chamber.
The deputy group leader of the Brothers of Italy party, Fausto Piga, brought the matter to the chamber's attention: "They say Todde is considering resigning to copy Occhiuto, the center-right president of the Calabria Region. If that were the case," the Melonian added, "she would do so very late, given that she should have done so last January, immediately after the injunction order from the electoral college of guarantee. But if Todde were to do so now, she would always be making a wise choice," he provocatively argued, "because the Region doesn't deserve this political instability caused by the botched forfeiture, which could at any moment sanction the dissolution of the Regional Council and new elections, the first time in the history of the Republic."

These statements did not fall on deaf ears. The Democratic Party group leader, Roberto Deriu, responded by firmly denying both the possibility of his resignation and that of early elections. The Democrat also warned: anyone hoping for his dismissal will be proved wrong because, he maintains, everything regarding the dismissal issue will be clarified. He expressed such certainty that he's willing to bet that this legislature will reach its natural end.
