Basketball isn't the only sport mourning the passing of Silvio Angius at 84. A champion basketball player from Sassari, he stood 1.90 meters tall, a remarkable figure for the 1960s and 1970s. His elegance, a decent mid-range shot, and his ability to time his teammates' mistakes made up the rest, earning him the nickname "king of tap-ins."

He wore the Olimpia Cagliari jersey in the second division and then returned to Sassari in 1966 to strengthen Dinamo, newly promoted to Serie C, then the third tier. He remained there until the mid-1970s.

He left behind not only a wonderful legacy but also three children who naturally took up basketball: Fabio, Loredana, and especially Luca, who followed in his footsteps at Dinamo, playing in Serie A2 in the early 1990s, where he continued the family legacy, albeit as a point guard, with a three-point shot that was exemplary in both execution and accuracy.
