Mourning in the world of journalism: Rino Icardi, one of Rai's historic voices in sports radio broadcasts, died in Rome.

He was born in Alexandria on May 18, 1937 but had lived in the capital for years. In the Piedmontese city as a student he founded with other classmates, in the first years at the Plana classical high school, the "Raglio", considered one of the first student newspapers in Italy. At Rai he was one of the founders of the radio broadcast "Tutto il calcio minute by minute" . Among his best-known reports, the one at the 1972 Munich Games on the massacre in the Olympic village. In October 1978 he was sent to the Vatican for the election of Pope John Paul II. As editor-in-chief of Giornale Radio 2, he was among the first to break the news of the bomb blast at the Bologna station on August 2, 1980. In his career, he followed various editions of the Giro d'Italia, some of the European Championships and the World Cup; he was also involved in motoring.
