The actor and voice actor Renato Cecchetto died in the night at the San Camillo hospital in Rome.

Known for being the Italian voice of Shrek's character, his condition worsened after a scooter accident.

Cecchetto was born in Adria, in the province of Rovigo, seventy years ago.

He had worked in more than 80 films with directors such as Mario Monicelli, Steno, Marco Ferreri, Damiano Damiani, Florestano Vancini, Carlo Vanzina and Neri Parenti. As a voice actor he had also been the pig Hamm in “Toy Story”, Yeti in “Monsters & co”, Mack in “Cars” and Cleveland Brown starting from the 11th season of “Family Guy”.

For television he was Judge Bordonaro in the first two editions of “La piovra” and Augusto Verdirame from Brescia in “Amici mie II”.
