Nino Falchi , a symbolic striker of Sardinian football and of Cagliari in the 1950s and 1960s, in Serie B, has passed away at the age of 86.

With over 500 career goals, he was the first islander called up to the national team, albeit in Serie C, called up for a match against Morocco, and aroused the interest of big Italian clubs such as Lazio, Roma and Torino .

As a coach, he led Fersulcis from the Third Category to Serie D, shaping generations of players. Among his students was Gianluca Festa , who remembers him as "a capable and human coach." A charismatic and beloved figure, Falchi embodied the genuine values of a football based on passion, respect, and pride. "Cagliari Calcio," reads a statement from the club, "expresses its condolences for the passing of Nino Falchi. A former Rossoblu player, the dean of the club and of Sardinian football. A great figure who contributed to the growth of the entire Sardinian movement and of Cagliari before their arrival in Serie A."
