Mourning in the world of cinema and entertainment for the death of director Giorgio Ferrara . Elder brother of the journalist Giuliano, he was 76 years old .

Ill for some time, he was hospitalized in a Roman hospital. Born in Rome on 19 January 1947 , he had taken his first steps in the profession as an assistant to Luca Ronconi . After moving on to directing, he directed works by Pirandello, Goldoni, Strindberg, to name a few. Among the protagonists who worked with him also Valeria Moriconi, Andrea Giordana, Gato Barbieri, Adriana Asti . The latter became his wife in 1982 .

Over the years he has won various awards such as the special prize at the David di Donatello in 1977 for "A simple heart" and the Silver Ribbon for best new director. Ferrara was also a valid artistic director , a profession to which he devoted himself more in the last years of his career. From 2003 to 2007 he led the Italian Cultural Institute in Paris and from 2007 to 2020 the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto. In 2021 the artistic direction of the Stabile del Veneto arrived, a position he relinquished last April.
