The world of island culture is in mourning for the sudden death of Gavino Mura, 60, "bassu" of the tenores Santa Sarbana, one of the most famous on the island. Mura was one of the founders of the group, starting in 1975. Together with Angelo Cossu, Giovanni Cossu and Giovanni Antonio Faedda, they brought the traditional song of the country and Sardinia all over the world.

Gavino Mura was also a son of art, his father was the limba poet Frantziscu Mura, one of the best known improvisers in the Sardinian language, who died several years ago. He stopped living in the intensive care unit of the Sassari hospital, where he had been hospitalized for some time for an intestinal problem. He had been operated on twice and had been in intensive care for a week. He leaves his wife, two children and grandchildren and above all leaves an unbridgeable void in the tenor group Santa Sarbana and in the island's cultural world.
