Farewell to Francesco Guccini, poet of the taverns, singer-songwriter, writer of short stories and big questions. He was 86.
Born in Modena on June 14, 1940, and raised between Emilia and the Apennines, his raspy, unmistakable voice has accompanied generations of listeners, a symbol of a cultural era that discovered in him a way to question the present.
From "The Locomotive" to "Auschwitz," from "God Is Dead" to "The Poisoned One," he has chronicled the memories, injustices, illusions, and disillusionments of a country undergoing transformation. Not just a musician, but a writer capable of giving poetic dignity to everyday life, childhood memories, lost friends, and places of the soul.
He cultivated a lifelong passion for writing, even after choosing to move away from the big stages, with novels and stories that often evoke the atmosphere of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines and the world of his Pàvana.
