Eddie Jordan, the former owner of the Formula 1 team that bore his name, has died at the age of 76 and was battling cancer.
The news was announced by the family of the entrepreneur who linked his name to the single-seater circus: «It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eddie Jordan, former owner of the Formula 1 team, television expert and entrepreneur».
Jordan suffered from aggressive prostate and bladder cancer. Last year, Jordan himself went public with his illness, encouraging men to have regular medical checkups.
Founded in 1991, his Jordan Grand Prix team has christened great champions such as Michael Schumacher, Ayrton Senna, Damon Hill and Nigel Mansell, among others.
