Pianist, composer and record producer , born in Kansas City 94 years ago, died yesterday at his home in Los Angeles.
This was announced by a spokeswoman, her agent Tina Brausam.
Bacharach is the author of dozens and dozens of pop music wonders including "Walk On By", "Do You Know the Way to San Jose", "The Look of Love", "Anyone Who Had a Heart", "I Say a Little Prayer”, “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head” . He won the Academy Award three times, twice in 1970 and once in 1982.
His pieces, usually produced with lyricist Hal David, have been sung by the Beatles, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, BJ Thomas, Tom Jones, Dusty Springfield, Herb Alpert, the Drifters, Luther Vandross and above all Dionne Warwick, his favorite performer.
