The announcement of his death comes from the Foundation that bears his name, directed by Carlotta Montebello. "With the passing of Arnaldo Pomodoro, the art world loses one of its most authoritative, lucid and visionary voices. The Maestro leaves an immense legacy - recalls the general director of the Foundation - not only for the strength of his work, recognized at an international level, but also for the coherence and intensity of his thought, capable of looking to the future with tireless creative energy".
Among his most famous works are the «Sphere within a Sphere» (1990) located at the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome, the «Great Gate of Paradise» (1968) created for the Palazzo dei Congressi in Rome, the «Scarabeo Cube» (1973) placed in the garden of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, or the «Arnaldo Pomodoro Column» (1989) in the centre of Milan.
