Even the world of sailing mourns Queen Elizabeth II of England , who died yesterday at the age of 96, of which 70 passed on the throne.

In Sardinia, the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda wanted to pay homage to the sovereign and as a sign of respect for her death , it lowered the flag flying on the flagpole of the famous sailing club at half mast .

Not only that: two British crews participating in the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup , taking place these days in the waters of Porto Cervo , today presented themselves on the racing field with the flag in mourning and, immediately after the start of the race, they withdrew out of respect for their monarch and royal house.
