While at the movies, "our heroes" (Alberto Sordi and Bernard Blier) found their friend (Nino Manfredi) who mysteriously disappeared in Africa, but—spoiler alert—preferred to remain with the tribe, this time the wealthy businessman returns from the Dark Continent after a 10-year absence, and the plot twists begin. "The Surprise" will be performed at 8:30 pm on Friday and Saturday at the Teatro Astra in Sassari, with the Compagnia Teatro Sassari.
The text by Cosimo Filigheddu , directed by Mario Lubino , is interpreted by Alessandra Spiga , Michelangelo Ghisu , Sabrina Commissario , Paolo Colorito and Pasquale Poddighe .
The story revolves around the return after ten years of a wealthy businessman who disappeared in Africa during a business trip with his trusted secretary, apparently kidnapped by a rebel tribe. After the phone call, the family makes preparations to welcome him and, above all, to carefully prepare him for some significant changes that have occurred in the past ten years: a lover for his disconsolate wife, a career as a porn star for his daughter, and prison for his son for a shady bribe-taking affair. But even the unsuspecting husband has an unexpected surprise in store. The story unfolds in the welcoming garden of an upper-middle-class villa in Sassari. The play is part of the 35th edition of the Etnia e Teatralità Festival , organized by the Compagnia Teatro Sassari.
