There are musical genres so ubiquitous around the world that they become a lingua franca, and metal is certainly a prime example: this time, Florentines Barbarian are connecting with veteran islanders Vultur , finally reuniting on Saturday the 24th at the Fabrik in the capital for a double date packed with metallic adrenaline. The evening is a collaboration between Cagliari-based booking agency Steel Attack and the venue on Via Mameli 216 , which will open its doors at 9 pm .
The band on tour
Barbarian were born in 2009 in the Tuscan capital, led by ex Children of Technology Borys Crossburn , the following year they published first as a demo, then as their official debut, the self-titled album for Doomentia Records , for which they also produced the second album " Faith Extinguisher " (2014) while they began touring Europe and the United States with their first tours.
In 2015, they moved to the Hells Headbangers label, with which they released three albums between 2016 and 2022, years during which the lineup changed repeatedly until reaching the power trio of today, with members Crossburn (vocals and guitar), Cardinal Sinner (bass) and Sledgehammer (drums). With the release of their first live album, " Live at Thrash Nightmare Vol. 9 ", in 2023, the partnership with Doomenzia was restored, also releasing an extended play on the label.
On the evening of the 24th , the Florentine trio will present, as a national exclusive, the album released today , " Reek of God ," published by the German label Dying Victim Productions . This work fully represents the style the band has cemented with each release, proudly adhering to the thrash and speed metal schools, with sonic velocity and percussive violence blended with Scandinavian black metal influences, resulting in an explosive and frenetic sound.
The local group
Vultur are based in the Cagliari area, but formed in 2005 in Portoscuso and still hold the record for the longest-running black metal band in Sardinia . Combining the genre's icy, chaotic, and dissonant sounds with influences from darker, more ancestral Sardinian folklore, the band has released numerous demos, split albums – that is, tracks divided equally between two or more bands – and three studio albums, the latest of which is the acclaimed " Cultores de Perdas e Linna ," released last year on Rome's Masked Dead Records . They have also made numerous live appearances alongside cult names in the black metal and related genres, such as Canada's Blasphemy and Tuscany's Necromass.
