"The sentence is what it is, there are not many ways to take it: I took it."

Fabri Fibra comments on the decision of the Court of Cassation - third civil section of the Court of Milan - to confirm the conviction for defamation by imposing on him and the record company Universal Music Italia a compensation of 70 thousand euros in favor of Valerio Scanu.

The story began in 2013, the year of the release of the song A me di te, included in the rapper's album Guerra e Pace. In the incriminating verses, Fabri Fibra made offensive and allusive reference to the singer-songwriter from Maddalena, in a long passage considered denigratory and damaging to his reputation.

"I don't think it's a threat to freedom of speech, as I've read around, in fact I think it's the complete opposite," Fibra told Corriere della Sera. "I was completely free to say what I wanted to say. It's not true that you can't say things, but logically there are those that will make you pay a price and will lead to consequences. If you're an artist, my question is: do you say things because you can say them or don't you say them because you're afraid of paying the consequences?"

Scanu, he continues, «I don't know him, I've never seen him. But I don't know anyone. For me the distinction between the artist and the person is very important: I speak of the artist, if there are attacks they are always to the public figure, which is called public because it is exposed, I am exposed too. My intention is to confront myself with the character, I'm not interested in people».

A few days ago, meanwhile, a feat was announced with Tredici Pietro, rapper and son of Gianni Morandi. The song is called “Che gusto c'è” and is the first single from the album «Mentre Los Angeles brucia» coming out on June 20 with a tour starting July 3: «He is good and has a strong passion for hip hop that saves him a lot from the entire Italian music scene – it is the blessing of one of the most influential representatives of Italian rap -. He raps in an elegant and also intelligent way, not like those who do trap today. Trap comes from a context of medicines and drug abuse, you are credible in doing it if you are a little “under the influence”. Instead, he comes out of that generation with style».
