Always at the top of the Italian and foreign rankings, Sardinia's extra virgin olive oil continues to obtain awards and recognition.

Some prominent companies in the regional landscape have received important victories. Among these are the Accademia Olearia of the Fois family of Alghero and Masoni Becciu, led by Nicola Solinas and his wife , true excellences of the territory.

«A path to the top of Sardinian oil, also the result of the great work being done on the island among the producers, always ready to innovate and create new products - underlines Coldiretti Sardegna -, but also thanks to the support of important players such as 'Apos (the regional organization of olive producers which refers to Coldiretti Sardinia), which in recent days has activated courses for tasters of virgin olive oils».

ACCADEMIA OLEARIA – The Alghero company brings home important acclaim both from Florence in the “Il Magnifico” event, which rewards the best national oils, but also in other events. In fact, it came first in the Medium Fruity category for Organic Sardinia DOP Extra Virgin Olive Oil in the Olio Capitale Competition , organized by the Venezia Giulia Chamber of Commerce. During the exhibition of typical and quality extra virgin olive oils, the Accademia Olearia received an honorable mention from the National Organization of Olive Oil Tasters for two excellent products: the “Producer's Reserve” Sardegna DOP and the Organic . These awards are added to others of great international value won in the first months of 2024, such as the 5 Gocce of the Bibenda Guide, the Italy Food Awards and the Monocultivaroliveoil competition created by the sector expert Gino Celletti.

MASONI BECCIU – Masoni Becciu is the best oil in Europe at the “Il Magnifico” award , reserved for the best oils. An occasion in which dozens of productions from Italy but also from many other countries such as Spain, Portugal, France, Greece, Turkey, Crete, Slovenia, and Croatia were compared. This important success was achieved with #Alphabetum oil, characterized by an elegant sensorial profile with predominant notes of tomato and herbaceous but enriched by a hint of artichoke. The victory was obtained with a production of the Nera di Villacidro variety from olive groves. It is the first time in history that a Sardinian company has won this coveted award. Furthermore, Masoni Becciu also won the award for best island oil at the same event.

«The confirmation of our companies at the top of the extra virgin olive oil sector demonstrates the extraordinary quality of our regional products - underlines Battista Cualbu, president of Coldiretti Sardegna - this success is attributable to the tireless work of the Sardinian farmers who cultivate with passion and dedication our regional specialties, such as olives, transforming them into authentic gastronomic excellences . The growth of the sector is confirmed by the value of the products now recognized at national and European level."

Furthermore, according to Luca Saba, director of Coldiretti Sardegna, «these awards highlight the role of primary importance of the Sardinian olive sector in the agri-food sector , both at a national and regional level - he says - despite the challenges represented by competition on the market and by climate changes, our companies continue to produce the highest quality oil. It is essential, however, that the institutions recognize and support the importance of the Sardinian agricultural sector - he concludes - to guarantee its growth and promotion of the tradition and excellence of the products".
