Olbia has announced its appeal against its exclusion from the Eccellenza championship, made official today by the FIGC Sardinia, through a statement signed by Flavia Fiore, president and legal representative of the club under the management of Prosoccer.
"Since the undersigned took on the burden and honor of assuming this role, she has formally entrusted the task to Attorney Chiacchio, a renowned national expert in the management of federal and sports procedures," reads the preface of the press release issued this afternoon. "The club has therefore completed the registration process for the Regional Excellence Championship for the 2026/2027 Sports Season, verifying with the lawyer the club's eligibility and compliance with the required requirements within the required deadlines to properly formalize the registration."
The announcement follows the appeal against the club's denial of admission to the Eccellenza championship, apparently linked to the failure to pay amounts owed to some former members. "In light of the complaints received, the same lawyer, Chiacchio, who has represented other sports clubs in similar disputes in previous years and won the appeals with the same evidence, is preparing an appeal. In this specific case," it is emphasized, "the club acted in accordance with tax criteria and the same lawyer's instructions in preparing and managing the amounts of the currently contested arbitration awards. We therefore believe there may be grounds for overturning the denial."
The club has a week to file the appeal. Meanwhile, Fiore is trying to reassure the club. "On a personal level, I can tell you that I'm the first one who doesn't want to throw away the club's 120-year history, and that even if I don't show up or give behind-the-scenes interviews, we're doing everything we can to move forward and honor the name of this club and its history," he admits in the press release. "What we ask is that you await the outcome of the appeal with passion, dedication, and respect for the club's history before considering all is lost for Olbia Calcio 1905. If the outcome is in our favor," he concludes, "this should be considered the first step toward a new season with greater dialogue and participation from everyone."
