Thomas Ceccon won the bronze medal in the 200-meter backstroke final at the European Swimming Championships in Paris. The Venetian set a new Italian record of 1:53.96. Hungary's Hubert Kos took gold in 1:53.08, and Greece's Apostolos Siskos took silver in 1:53.81.

Benedetta Pilato also won a bronze medal in the women's 100-meter breaststroke. The Italian finished in 1:05.89. Evans took gold, while McSharry took silver. Lisa Angiolini finished eighth.
