Italy finishes in second place in the women's draw at the European Padel Championships underway at the Cagliari Tennis Club, awaiting the men's final. For Marcela Ferrari's Italian team, protagonists of a great week in Monte Urpinu, comes the defeat in the final against the invincibles of Spain, who made use of all their quality and the underdogs.
The first match saw Alejandra Alonso and Andrea Ustero win 6-0 6-1 against Carolina Orsi and Emily Stellato, in 47 minutes. Then it was Jessica Castelló and Marta Ortega who closed the score, overcoming Giorgia Marchetti and Chiara Pappacena with a double 6-3 in an hour and 8', who gave everything, keeping the match open as much as possible. The 2-0 made the third match irrelevant, which was not played and should have seen Patricia Llaguno and Lucía Sainz on the pitch against Carlotta Casali and Lorena Vano.
The success. For Spain it is an almost absolute domination at the European Padel Championships: with this they have won ten of the thirteen women's editions. And there are also ten in the men's team, which at 6pm (again on the central court of the Tennis Club Cagliari) will in turn challenge Italy in the second final of the day.
