Official: Giorgia Meloni will be a candidate in the European elections in June, leading the list for "her" Fratelli d'Italia.

The confirmation comes from the Fratelli d'Italia convention in Pescara, where the Prime Minister, in her speech, explained: « We want to create a majority that brings together the centre-right forces and sending the left into opposition even in the EU is a difficult but possible undertaking and we must try." «We can bring the Italian model to Europe – added Meloni – it would be a revolution in which the conservative party is strategic and fundamental».

«When we say "never with the left" – continued Meloni – we are not using a slogan good for an electoral campaign but to be thrown away the next day, we are talking about something that is in our DNA. It is valid in Rome and it is valid in Brussels, we do not I'm interested in being with everyone or where everyone is."

Again, said the Prime Minister, «Italy has once again become a protagonist in Europe, in the Mediterranean, after years of servility of the left and circle-busting of the Five Star Movement. Italy has returned to the Mediterranean, to the wider Mediterranean, an incredibly forgotten area for a long time . Italy – concluded Meloni – has returned to Africa and has been able to lead the way in the approach that is no longer predatory or charitable, which today everyone is looking at with interest, thanks to us».

As for the electoral campaign, «I will not take away a single minute of the government's activity» , assured Meloni, and then bitten Elly Schlein: «Since I am not the secretary of the Democratic Party, I am sure that the party will give me a hand in this electoral campaign ».

And again: «I ask Italians to write my name, but my first name» at the European elections. «I am proud that the majority of citizens who address me call me Giorgia . I have been mocked for years for my popular roots, they called me fisherman, villager... because they are cultured.... But I am proud to be a person of the people."
