A rough first half, but a thrilling one after halftime. Dinamo beat Rasta Vechta 105-94 and joined the Germans at the top of the Europa Cup group, remaining in contention to advance to the next round. Buie top scorers with 23 points, 19 for Thonas and 18 each for Marshall Jr. and Johnson.
The Germans started by scoring only three-pointers with their guards and big men, with the rest being handled by their defense: 13-20 at the 8th minute. Zanelli closed the gap at the quarter-final buzzer with a bomb: 15-20. Mezzanotte and Thomas were incisive, but the outside players were lacking in contribution: 26-37 at the 15th minute. Banco was unable to get the upper hand and even ended up within 16. The halftime score was telling: the three outside players Marshall, Johnson, and Beliauskas had each scored two points.
Upon returning to the court, Sassari's defense ramped up, and Buie (the best player) finally found Johnson's defense, sinking two three-pointers that reopened the game along with McGlynn's layup: 55-57 in the 23rd minute. Vechta responded with two three-pointers from Brown: 62-71 in the 27th minute, but Dinamo had regained control of the game, with Johnson on fire from the free throw line to seal the lead: 75-74 in the 32nd minute. The Germans regained the lead thanks to guards Kuhse and Verge, but a relentless Marshall responded: 93-86 in the 37th minute. Buie sealed the victory with a three-pointer.
