Italy has secured three more final qualifications at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. Pietro Arese has qualified for the 1500-meter final. The Italian ran 3:41.94, the fifth fastest time in his heat, and will therefore return to the track to compete for a medal. Arese controlled the entire race, only taking a few risks at the end. Matteo Oliveri performed well in the pole vault.

The Italian athlete cleared the 5.60m mark needed to qualify and tied for tenth place, securing a spot. Armand Duplantis was the obvious favorite, ahead of Emmanouil Karalis. In the javelin, Paola Padovan threw 56.90m and qualified among the top twelve competitors in the final.
