Bologna partially redeemed the Italian teams' bleak week in Europe.

After defeats by Juventus (5-2 in Istanbul), Atalanta (2-0 in Dortmund) and Inter (3-1 in Bodo), the Italian team travels to Norway in the first leg of the Europa League play-offs.

The Emilians won 1-0 at Brann. Castro's first European League goal was the deciding factor, beating the Norwegian goalkeeper with a precise diagonal shot from Cambiaghi's pass into the penalty area.

Skorupski excelled midway through the first half, preventing Norway from equalising, but in the final minutes it was Bologna who failed to knock out the hosts with Dallinga.
