The match followed a strong first half, with the Rossoblu leading thanks to Rowe's sensational goal, then being pegged back by Ndicka's header, and then taking the lead again with a Bernardeschi penalty.
The second half was even more exciting, with Italiano's team leading by two goals thanks to Castro's goal, who took advantage of a mistake by the Roma defense and then allowed Malen (from a penalty caused by Robinio Vaz) and Pellegrini to come back.
In the second half of extra time, Cambiaghi gave Bologna the joy of qualification, finishing off a vertical move with Dallinga.
